We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive. . . ." And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas.

I was told just last night that the guy who wrote that died, is this true? By the post I'm not sure if your aware of it or it's just a weird coincidence. Also, I havn't seen the movie or read the book. But since you have a post about it I'm assuming it's good and I should rent it?

It is true. The picture is a link. The book and movie are both fantastic. I would say don't rent, go and buy both immediatley. It is a book that I have actually read more than once even more than 3 or 4 times. Which I never do. I read it the first time in High School and decided reading wasn't so bad after all.
