Have you noticed that nobody refers to the internet as the "World Wide Web" any more. It is the internet or the web. It is also no longer called the "Information Super Highway" very often. I am going to start only referring to it as one of these two things just to see the reaction. Will people notice it? Give it a try and let me know how you make out.

but, yes, world wide web is not as frequent. i was just thinking that the other day.

"World Wide Web" refers to "webpages" which are "hyperlinked" to form a "web".. this idea was invented in the mid-ninties.

The internet is a network of computers. This network was started sometime in the 70s or late sixties.

So when you IM, send email, share files via bittorrent, you are using the internet to do those things, but you are not using the web.

when you look at webpages, you are using the web. the webpages are being delivered to you via the internet.
