Police: Man steals Walmart motor-cart, paints it purple

MANSFIELD - Paul E. Paxson, 19, was charged with the theft of a motorized grocery cart from Walmart.

According to court documents in District Judge James Carlson's courtroom, Paxson, who is in Tioga County Prison after failing to post bail on previous theft and weapons possession charges, was charged by state police with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief for the alleged theft of the cart on Nov. 22, which police say he removed the grocery basket and painted it purple. The cart, valued at $1,000, was recovered at Paxson's residence in Wellsboro.

He was issued a summons to appear and his preliminary hearing set for March 31.
